Christopher P. Ward ’81 was an outstanding point guard on the men’s basketball team from 1977-81. He played in 98 career games and compiled 1,093 points and 652 assists. Ward averaged 11.2 points and 6.7 assists per game for his career.

He is RIC’s all-time leader in career assists, while ranking 24th in career points. Ward helped the Anchormen to a 21-7 record in 1978-79 as RIC reached the second round of the 1979 NCAA Div. III Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Anchormen were ranked No. 1 in New England and No. 10 in the nation.

Rhode Island College won the New England State College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He received the John E. Hetherman Award in 1981, signifying him as RIC’s top male senior student-athlete.
