Jarell Forbes ’15 was an All-American hurdler at Rhode Island College during his career from 2011-15 who twice qualified for the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship, received the John E. Hetherman Award and helped lead RIC to the 2013 Little East Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

He earned a bachelor's degree in justice studies from Rhode Island College in 2015.

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
As a senior in 2014-15, the Providence native wrapped up his indoor career with a third place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.55) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Mar. 6. He finished eighth in the 60m hurdles (8.66) at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 28. Forbes earned All-New England honors with a third place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.43) and also finished 11th in the high jump (1.88m) at the N.E. Championships on Feb. 21. He earned N.E. Alliance honors in four events at the Alliance Championships on Feb. 14. He finished fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.50), seventh in the high jump (1.93m; season-best) and eighth in both the long jump (6.45m; season-best) and the 400m (52.41). Forbes finished 11th in the 60m hurdles (8.53), 12th in the 4x400m (3:25.64) and 25th in the 400m (50.28) at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Feb. 7.

He finished 28th in the 60m hurdles (8.64) and 56th in the 400m (50.03; season-best) at the Terrier Invitational on Jan. 30-31. Forbes placed first in the 60m hurdles (8.52), second in the 400m (52.11) and fourth in the high jump (1.87m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 24. He finished second in the 55m hurdles (7.98; season-best), third in the long jump (6.23m) and 14th in the 200m (25.20) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 17. Forbes placed sixth in the high jump (1.84m), seventh in the 60m hurdles (8.59) and 30th in the 200m (23.92; season-best) at the Yale Invitational on Jan. 10. He placed seventh in the 60m hurdles (8.69) and 10th in the 400m (51.65) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 13. Forbes finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.78m), third in the long jump (6.29m), seventh in the 400m (54.72) and ninth in the high jump (1.73m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 6.

As a junior in 2013-14, Forbes was the Little East Champion and finished third overall in the 55m hurdles with a program-record time of 7.71 to earn N.E. Alliance honors at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 15. Forbes also posted an eighth-place finish in the high jump (1.93m season-best), an 11th-place finish in the 400m (52.27), a 13th-place finish in the long jump (6.02m), a 13th-place finish in the 55m preliminaries and a 26th-place finish in the 55m (7.00). He finished 67th in the 60m hurdles (9.40) and 79th in the 400m (50.62) at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 8. Forbes finished third in the 60m hurdles (8.52) at the Tufts Stampede Invitational on Feb. 1. He finished 14th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.43) and 52nd in the 400m (50.04; season-best) at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Jan. 2.

Forbes placed third in the 55m hurdles (7.99), fifth in the 200m (24.14), seventh in the high jump (1.73m), ninth in the long jump (5.86m), 13th in the preliminaries of the 55m (7.06) and 14th in the shot (9.54m) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 18. He finished second in both the 55m hurdles (7.72) and the 800m (2:08.39), while also placing third in the 55m (6.88; season-best), third in the long jump (6.25m; season-best) and fourth in the high jump (1.78m), at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan. 11. Forbes placed sixth in the 60m hurdles (8.71) and ninth in the 400m (51.36) at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Dec. 14. He took first place in the 60m hurdles with a program-record time of 8.38 and also placed first in the 400m (52.12), while placing third in the 200m (23.73; season-best) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 7.

As a sophomore in 2012-13, Forbes was named the team MVP. He finished first in the 60m hurdles with a program-record time of 8.39 and took fifth in the 400m (50.85) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on March 2. Forbes finished 25th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.65) at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 23. He earned All-New England honors in the heptathlon by placing fourth with a program-record score of 4499 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 16. Forbes also placed 13th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.70). He was the Little East Champion and earned N.E. Alliance honors thanks a second place effort in the 55m hurdles with a program-record time of 7.78 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 10. Forbes earned N.E. Alliance honors by placing fourth in the 400m (51.09) and second as part of the 4x400m relay (3:26.61). He also placed 10th in the 200m (23.55), 12th in the high jump (1.73m) and 17th in the long jump (5.93m). He was also a member of the 4x200m relay team broke the previous program record with a fifth-place time of 1:33.90. He finished fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.63) at the Tufts Stampede Invitational on Feb. 2.

Forbes finished 21st in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.47) and also finished 32nd in the 400m with a season-best time of 49.66 at the B.U. Terrier Invitational on Jan. 26. Forbes placed first in the 60m hurdles (8.50) and fourth in the 600m with a season-best time of 1:25.45 at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 19. He placed first in both the long jump with a season-best mark of 6.32m and the 200m (23.96), while also finishing second in the 55m hurdles (7.96), third in the 55m (7.00) and 13th in the shot with a season-high mark of 9.85m at the Coast Guard Invitational on Jan. 12. Forbes placed first in the 55m hurdles (8.06), second in the high jump with a season-high mark of 1.83m, sixth in the 200m with a season-high time of 23.45 and 11th in the shot (8.73m) at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan. 5. He finished 21st in the high jump (1.80m), 25th in the preliminaries of the 55m hurdles (8.40) and 36th in the long jump (5.76) at the Harvard Open on Dec. 8. He was also a member of the 4x440m relay team broke the previous program record with a second-place time of 3:25.30. Forbes finished seventh in the 1,000m with a season-high time of 2:51.54, ninth in the 60m (7.49) and 15th in the shot (9.38m) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 1.

As a freshman in 2011-12, he finished 26th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.89) at the NEICAAA Championships on Feb. 25. Forbes finished 13th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.84) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 18. He earned a pair of N.E. Alliance Honors at the N.E. Alliance Championship on Feb. 11 as he took first place in the 55m hurdles with a season-best time of 8.08 and was part of the 4x400m relay team (3:27.96) that also finished third. Forbes also placed eighth in the 600m (1:26.31) and 10th in the high jump (1.81m). Forbes finished 43rd in the 60m hurdles (9.21) and 58th in the 400m with a season-best time of 51.43 at the BU Terrier Invitational on Jan. 28. He placed third in the 60m hurdles (8.67), fourth in the 400m (51.83) and sixth in the high jump (1.81m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 21.

Forbes earned a third place finish in the 400m (53.21) and helped establish a new program record in the 4x200m relay with a first-place finish (1:35.41) at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 14. He posted a season-best performance in the 600m with a fourth place finish (1:25.88) at the Southern Maine Invitational on Jan. 7. Forbes posted a pair of season-bests at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 10, finishing seventh in the high jump (1.90m) and 11th in the 60m hurdles (8.73) and was also part of the 4x440m relay squad that helped establish a new program record with a sixth place finish (3:30.32). He placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.85) and fourth in both the high jump (1.86m) and 400m (53.55) at the Springfield Invitational on Dec. 3.

OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD
As a senior in 2015, Forbes wrapped up his illustrious career as an Anchorman by earning All-ECAC honors with a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles (53.65) at the ECAC Championships on May 14-15. He finished first in the 400m hurdles (53.62; season-best) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 8-9. Forbes garnered All-New England honors, finishing fifth in the 400m hurdles (54.77) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Apr. 30-May 2. He competed in the 110m hurdles at the Alliance Championships on Apr. 25. Forbes placed first in the 400m hurdles (56.46), second in the high jump (1.88m; season-best) and second in the 110m hurdles (14.96; season-best) at the Corsair Invitational on Apr. 4. He finished first in the 400m hurdles (55.82) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Mar. 28. Forbes was named the Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week once during the season.

As a junior in 2014, Forbes was named the 2014 Little East Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and team MVP. Forbes finished seventh in the nation in the 400m hurdles, en route to attaining All-American honors, with an effort of 52.81 in the final day of competition at the 2014 NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 22-24. Forbes assured himself of All-American honors with a fifth-place (52.59) effort in the preliminaries of the 400m hurdles on the first day of competition and established a new program record in the event along the way. He earned All-ECAC honors after taking home the title in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.48 at the ECAC Championships on May 15-16. Forbes also placed 13th in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles (15.13). Forbes finished ninth and established a new program record in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles (14.77m) and also placed 10th in the 400m hurdles preliminaries (54.75) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 9-10. He was the New England Champion in the 400m hurdles (52.89) and also notched a second place finish in the 110m hurdles (14.78) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 3.

Forbes picked up a trio of New England Alliance honors at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 27, as he was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the 400m hurdles (54.24) and was the Little East Champion in the 110m hurdles, where he finished second overall (15.08). Forbes also placed third in the long jump (6.22m) and 11th in the high jump (1.78m).  He placed first in both the 400m (50.71) and the 400m hurdles (55.58), while also finishing second in the high jump (1.93m; season-best) and fourth in the long jump (6.30m; season-best), at the Silfen Invitational on April 19. Forbes took first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.02 and also finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.28 at the Brown Invitational on April 12. He finished third in the 110m hurdles (15.41) and 13th in the 200m (23.25) at the Corsair Invitational on April 5. Forbes placed third in the 110m hurdles (15.49), fifth in the high jump (1.83m) and 32nd in the 800m (2:07.97) at the Coast Guard Invitational on March 29. He was named Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week twice on the season.

As a sophomore in 2013, Forbes placed 17th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.44 at the NCAA National Championships on May 23. He earned All-ECAC honors in the 400m hurdles with a sixth place finish (53.21) at the ECAC Championships on May 16-17. Forbes placed sixth in the 400m hurdles (53.02) and fifth with a program record time as a part of the 4x400m relay (3:15.94) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 10-11. He also broke the program record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.92 in the preliminaries. He earned All-New England honors in the 400m hurdles with a second place finish (53.23) and also earned All-New England honors as a member of the 4x400m relay that recorded a third place finish (3:19.69) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 4. Forbes earned N.E. Alliance honors in four events, as he was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the 400m hurdles (53.54) and as a member of the 4x400m relay team (3:20.76), while also placing second in the 400m (48.97) and third in the 110m hurdles (15.31) at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 27.  Forbes also placed sixth as part of the 4x100m relay with a new program-record time (43.25). He captured first place finishes in the 400m (49.20), 110m hurdles (15.21), and 400m hurdles (55.45) at the Silfen Invitational on April 20. Forbes finished first in the 110m hurdles (15.13; season-best) and fourth in the 400m hurdles (54.99) at the Brown Invitational on April 13. Forbes placed second in both the high jump (1.93m) and the 400m hurdles (54.46) at the Coast Guard Invitational on March 30. Forbes was named the Little East Track Athlete of the Week once on the season.

As a freshman in 2012, he was named team MVP. Forbes earned All-ECAC honors in the 400m hurdles (54.26) with an eighth place finish at the ECAC Championship on May 18. He placed ninth in the 400m hurdles (54.74) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 11-12. Forbes earned All-New England honors in two events, finishing first in the 400m hurdles with a record-breaking time of 53.79 and third in the 110m hurdles with a season-best time (15.17) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 5. He earned three N.E. Alliance honors, placing first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.32 and first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.92 at the Alliance Championships on April 28.  Forbes, who also placed 13th in the high jump (1.80m), was a member of the 4x400m relay squad that earned N.E. Alliance honors with a first place finish in a new program record time of 3:19.21. Forbes was also part of the 4x100m relay team that broke the program record with a fifth place finish and a time of 43.35.

Forbes took home the top spot in the 400m hurdles (55.89), placed second in the 110m hurdles (15.70), third in the 400m with a season-best time (50.56) and fourth in the high jump with a season-best performance (1.88m) at the Silfen Invitational on April 28.He took first place in the 400m hurdles (53.97) and was 16th in the 100m with a season-best time (11.87) at the Bernard Solomon Husky Invitational on April 14. Forbes finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.41 and was also a member of the 1,600m sprint medley relay squad that earned a first place finish and established a new program record with a time of 3:36.75 and the 4x200m relay squad that finished third with a new RIC record time of 1:33.94, at the Corsair Classic on April 7. He was named the Little East Rookie Field Athlete of the Week once on the season.
