A 31 year Rhode Island College educator, Patrucco served as Faculty Advisor to the Anchormen Chess Club for a period of 20 years.

Finishing in the top 10 nationally since 1979, his 1985 chess team enjoyed 1st place in the prestigious Pan-American Chess Championships, a national intercollegiate tournament drawing colleges and universities from both North and South America.

Official scorer and statistician for Queens College baseball team from 1953 to 1956, Patrucco wrote sports news releases and reported baseball and basketball box scores with highlighted summaries to New York area newspapers and Radio Station WOR while working for the Queens College New Bureau during those years. He graduated from Queens College in 1956 with a B.A. in History.

Served as President of the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Easter Seal Society (Meeting Street School) from 1983 to 1985.
