Rhode Island College

Outstanding athlete, coach, and nationally recognized sports official, Dwyer coached both Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams at Rhode Island College for seven years (fall of 1974 to spring of 1981).

A Rhode Island State College (Now URI) graduate, he earned nine varsity letters for his collegiate competition on the Ram’s cross country and track & field programs.

Dwyer has been honored with several awards, including induction into the R.I. Football Coaches, R.I. Track coaches, and the URI Halls of Fame.

Rhode Island College enjoys the annual Ray Dwyer Invitational Men’s and Women’s cross country meet each season which was created in his honor when he retired in 1981.
